Georgia’s scavenger hunt weekend has netted a pledge in the 2024 class. Cardinal Gibbons (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) tight end Colton Heinrich announced his commitment to UGA on Monday. He the Bulldogs over 26 other reported offers.

At 6-foot-3 230 pounds, Heinrich is the nation’s No. 690 overall prospect in the 2024 class per the On3 Industry-ranking. He’s also the No. 35 tight end and the No. 97 player in Florida.

His junior highlights show why he was such a high target for Todd Hartley and company. He fits the play-making role of what Georgia has targeted at the position in recent years.

Heinrich and Georgia…

The Bulldogs offered Heinrich in late January of this year, and it was clearly an opportunity that struck him from the get go.

“It was an absolute shock to me knowing that I have the chance to play for the back-to-back National Champions,” Heinrich told DawgsHQ at that time. “I’ve learned that Coach [Todd] Hartley has a real love for the game.”

Hartley was clear with the rising senior that he could flourish in the Georgia system with Heinrich’s versatility a major key to that belief.

“He told me he likes how physical I am in the run game while being able to produce mismatches on the field with my receiving abilities,” Heinrich said.

And that vision was well in-line with what Heinrich sought for a home at the next level.

“I want a school that will use me in a way that first me, like giving me the ability to be spread out as a wide receiver or attached as a tight end,” he said in February. “I also want a school with great culture and amazing support from the community.”

Speaking of culture, Georgia’s is one that he’s well versed in already.

“A program that constantly wins and sends players to the league,” Heinrich said when asked what stood out regarding the Bulldogs.

He chose the Bulldogs over offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, and LSU, among others.
