Georgia is back-to-back National Champions due in large part to Kirby Smart’s inability to sit still. Roughly 80 hours after the Bulldogs defeated 65-7 for that title, Smart was back on the road and visiting one of the top players in the country for the 2024 class — Sammy Brown

His first stop on Friday morning was to see Jefferson (Jefferson, Ga.) linebacker Sammy Brown. Smart made the short trip to Jefferson via car and was picked up by a helicopter that headed north.

At 6-foot-3 225 pounds, Brown is the nation’s No. 6 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker per the industry-generated, equally weighted On3 Consensus. He’s the No. 2 prospect in Georgia.

Georgia is recruiting on the defensive side of the ball, likely as an off-ball linebacker. Brown does, however, have the length and burst to succeed as an edge defender.

Sammy Brown scouting report

“A physical freak of nature whose athletic ability is off the charts. Stands in at 6-foot-2.5, 225 pounds with a 6-foot-6 wingspan. Jumped a 34-inch vertical and 10-foot-1 broad jump during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Ran some mind-boggling track times during his sophomore track and field season with a 10.70 100m, a 21.81 200m and jumped a 22-foot-2 long jump as well. The athleticism translates to the field with his ability to chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline popping off the screen as well as his long speed as a ball carrier. High upside prospect whose athletic ability alone makes him a borderline lock as a NFL draft pick.” — On3 Scouting
