Georgia kept its impressive Super Bowl streak alive Sunday. It just means more in the SEC. It could mean another Lombardi Trophy.

The Georgia Bulldogs will officially have a former player in the Super Bowl for the 22nd season in a row.

With the Bengals’ win over Buffalo on Sunday, the AFC side of the NFL playoffs had multiple Georgia Bulldogs on pro rosters.

Cincinnati’s Trey Hill joined Kansas City’s Mecole Hardman and Malik Herring in the AFC Championship.

Georgia salted things away on the NFC side of the bracket as well on Sunday.

San Francisco’s win over Dallas punched Charlie Woerner’s ticket to the NFC Championship against Philadelphia.

Eagles rookies Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean have a chance to continue their championship ways in 2022-23, after winning a National Championship with the Dawgs in 2022.

Dawgs still chasing history alongside LSU

Nebraska set the bar for most consecutive seasons with a former player in the Super Bowl from 1993-2020, at 26 years.

The Dawgs still have some work to do on that front.

You have to like their chances at the streak that began in Super Bowl XXXVI. That was the 2001 season’s championship between the New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams.

That year also began LSU‘s identical streak – the Bayou Bengals aren’t guaranteed to keep it alive just yet, however.

The Bengals and/or 49ers must advance to the Super Bowl for LSU’s streak to survive.

According to their official team rosters, LSU doesn’t have an active player on either the Chiefs or the Eagles. Clyde Edwards-Helaire did play for LSU, but his injury status with the Chiefs is up in the air this postseason.

Super Bowl-hopeful Dawgs’ contributions thus far in the 2022 season

All of the Dawgs with a chance to win the Super Bowl have varying degrees of success in the 2022 season.

All of them played on Kirby Smart’s Georgia teams. Mecole Hardman has a chance to win his second Super Bowl ring, despite battling injuries this season.

Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis are second on the Eagles’ depth chart.

Dean and Davis have 13 and 18 total tackles this season, respectively.

Trey Hill doesn’t start at center for the Bengals, but he’s appeared in each Cincinnati game since week 6, according to Pro Football Reference.

Charlie Woerner doesn’t have a reception backing up George Kittle at tight end, but is a major contributor on special teams.

Mecole Hardman hasn’t appeared in a game for the Chiefs since week 9 as he rehabs an abdomen/groin injury.

Malik Herring hasn’t played for the Chiefs since week 10.

Super Bowl LVII kicks off at 6:30PM ET on February 12th in Glendale, Arizona.
