Georgia LB CJ Allen to undergoes MRI after injury vs. Texas

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia trounced Texas 35-10 on Saturday and it did so without CJ Allen for the final two and a half quarters. The junior inside linebacker exited the game in the second quarter with a leg injury, and Kirby Smart delivered an update after the game.
Smart said that Allen is dealing with a knee injury and was taken for an MRI, but he does not know the results at this time. He also said that when he spoke with Georgia’s leading tackler after the game, he told Smart that he is “good.”
Allen had three tackles, one solo, and a tackle for a loss when he exited the game. He was replaced by Chris Cole, who ultimately led Georgia in tackles with seven. Cole, too, had a tackle for loss. Fellow sophomore Justin Williams pitched in with four tackles and a half tackle for loss. Raylen Wilson, who starts at the inside linebacker position beside Allen, had two tackles and a half tackle for loss.
Allen is the unquestioned leader of Georgia’s defense. He has piled up 78 total tackles on the season to lead the team. He’s also the team leader in tackles for loss with seven and sacks, with 3.5. Allen has broken up three passes on the year and forced a pair of fumbles.

The Bulldogs held the line for awhile with Allen out. They led 14-3 at the half, and Texas didn’t reach the end zone until the third quarter after Gunner Stockton threw his third interception of the season to give it a short field. The Longhorns pierced the goal line six plays later with Arch Manning finding Ryan Wingo for a seven-yard touchdown.
The Bulldogs went into lockdown mode after that, shutting the Longhorns down the rest of the way. It allowed the offense to get on track as it scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Georgia will play Charlotte next Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET. It will hold Senior Day for it’s final home game of the 2025 season.
