Georgia runs for daylight vs Auburn: WATCH instant reaction

No matter what Georgia did vs Auburn, the story today was going to be Stetson Bennett. The Mailman didn’t find any kind of rhythm until midway through the third quarter.

Of course, we covered that in great detail on our instant reaction stream of The Georgia Show.

But other than Bennett, there were some significant leaps from this 6-0 Georgia team.

The offensive line played much better than it did at a pressure-hungry Missouri.

Georgia’s running backs had their best game of the season, even with Kendall Milton’s departure in the first half with a groin injury.

And of course, the nameless, faceless defense held serve vs a severely overmatched Auburn football team.

Our live, emotional response to Georgia’s victory can be found on The Georgia Show.

First of all: what’s up with Stetson Bennett’s arm?

The Mailman really battled today. Yes, he had a tremendous, explosive, 64-yard rushing score to start the fourth quarter.

And he got warmed up once the game was out of reach thanks to the Dawgs’ defense and rushing attack.

But I understand why y’all are antsy watching him drop back to throw.

Because he also missed on wide-open scoring opportunities downfield, and also fumbled during an Auburn strip-sack.

And because you saw what Tennessee did to LSU.

You know that if Georgia wants to repeat as National Champions – heck, even SEC East champions – then it needs better play out of its offensive passing attack.

We saw it against Oregon and South Carolina.

Ever since then, what’s the deal?

Stetson Bennett’s a shell of himself passing downfield, and I’m really not sure what the deal is.

Jake Rowe joined me in the postgame show to try and figure it out.

Highlights of the game: Daijun Edwards, Branson Robinson and Georgia’s defense carry the day

If Stetson Bennett didn’t light up the scoreboard, at least he had plenty of help from a resurgent running back room.

Kenny McIntosh found the endzone once.

But it was Daijun Edwards and the freshman, Branson Robinson, who really dazzled the Sanford Stadium crowd on a beautiful October afternoon.

Edwards scored three times. Robinson scored once, after Auburn had its white flag firmly planted into the Dooley Field soil.

Georgia combined to rush for 294 yards and six scores, even with starter Kendall Milton out for most of the game with a groin injury.

Other than a head-scratcher of a bust on Auburn’s 62-yard touchdown, the Dawgs absolutely put Auburn’s offense (led by first-time-SEC-road-starter Robby Ashford) in a headlock and took its lunch money.

The Tigers didn’t help themselves, either.

The Sanford Stadium crowd made its presence felt, and Auburn had 10 penalties for 60 yards in a hostile environment.

Georgia welcomes Vanderbilt to Athens before the bye week, and a massive second-half stretch of the schedule

Georgia’s offense brought a ton of questions into this game.

Luckily, it answered some of them with the run game.

But if Stetson Bennett and this passing attack enter the bye week with this funk still surrounding them, I really wonder what the team will be able to do on the bye week to get it back in check.
