Georgia Baseball put a thumping on Georgia Tech Saturday in Atlanta to secure the series. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 16-6 in front of 3,394 fans on hand to see the action at Russ Chandler Stadium on Tech’s campus.

Georgia jumped on top 1-0 in the first inning as Mason LaPlante scored on a two-out wild pitch. Will David then hit a home run to left field to make it 2-0 in the second. Tech responded with a few of its own, but a big third and fourth innings from the Bulldogs made it 8-2 in the blink of an eye. Parks Harber, Ben Anderson and Charlie Condon all hit home runs with Harber’s scoring three and Condon’s plating a pair.

The Bulldogs weren’t done either. With a run in the fifth and five in the seventh, Georgia hit double-digits. It was the seventh time in 10 games that they’ve done so, living up to the hype that surrounded the lineup so far this season. Condon hit his second home run of the day while Anderson and Tate all notched more RBIs to their name. Condon finished the day with four, scoring three runs of his own on a 3-for-4 day also drawing a walk, while Harber had three RBIs, Tate had two with three runs scored in a 4-for-5 outing and Anderson a pair as well.

Freshman Josh Tate got in on the action in the eighth as a pinch hitter with a two-run home run on the way to the 16-6 win.

In total, Georgia hit six home runs on the day. The Bulldogs have blasted 23 home runs in 10 games. Last year in 59 they hit 81. Parks Harber leads the way with five to his name while Charlie Condon and Corey Collins each have four. Condon is hitting .571 on the season, just ahead of Connor Tate’s .500. Tate also has two home runs along with Ben Anderson, while Mason LaPlante, Cole Wagner, Will David, Sebastian Murillo, Fernando Gonzalez and Josh Tate have added one each.

While the bats were incredible, we can’t forget about the pitching either. Liam Sullivan had a second strong outing in a row as he allowed just three hits in 5.1 innings, striking out eight. Kolten Smith, Will Pearson, Max DeJong and DJ Radtke helped finish the game out, combining for six strikeouts between the four of them. DeJong got beat up on the stat sheet a little bit as he allowed three runs to score in the ninth on a 3-run home run and walked two, but Radkte was able to get the final two outs in nine total pitches to seal the deal on the win, and the series.

“We have a really good lineup, and they have power, and we kept the pressure on every inning,” Georgia head coach Scott Stricklin said. “We scored in seven of the nine innings today, and we got home runs throughout the lineup. I thought Liam (Sullivan) pitched really well. We have a chance to sweep the series, and I know Georgia Tech will come out ready Sunday.”

Georgia will go for the sweep on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network. After playing Friday night at Foley Field and Saturday at Georgia Tech, the series wraps up with a neutral site game at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Stripers, in the 20th annual Spring Baseball Classic to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
