Georgia stays at No. 2 in Week 11 coaches poll
The newest US LBM/USA Today coaches poll is out and there’s no change for Georgia. The Bulldogs hold in the No. 2 spot with one first-place vote. Oregon, with it’s 9-0 record and wins over Ohio State and Michigan, is ranked No. 1. The Ducks have 53 first-place votes.
Ohio State ranks No. 3 followed by Miami and Texas to round out the top five. Tennessee is No. 6 followed by Penn State, Notre Dame, BYU, and Indiana to round out the top 10. Alabama, the only team to beat Georgia this season or over the past four years, is No. 11. Ole Miss, the Bulldogs next opponent, is No. 12.
Georgia is coming off a 34-20 win over Florida, its fourth straight against the Gators. After what the red and black faithful went through in the 1990s and 2000s, they’ll take any win they can get in Jacksonville but the Bulldogs did not put their best foot forward coming out of the bye.

“That was a tough one guys. We didn’t play our best game,” Kirby Smart said after the game. “I thought maybe the difference in the game obviously was in the second half. The difference in the game was our fans gave us some momentum, gave us some energy there, had some big defensive stops. Obviously you cannot turn the ball over and beat good teams. And make no mistake about it, Florida’s a much improved team. I told Billy before the game that they’re playing really well, playing really good football and have been for four or five weeks now. They’ve avoided turnovers and they’ve run the ball well. The recipe for winning football is don’t turn the ball over, run the ball, and play good defense. And for the most part we’ve done that most of the year. We didn’t do that for a little bit of the half.”
Next up for the Bulldogs is another massive road clash with the Rebels. A Georgia win will eliminate Ole Miss from the College Football Playoff discussion and it would force the Bulldogs backs to the wall with the Volunteers, UMass, and Georgia Tech remaining on the schedule.
