Georgia Tech flips Georgia safety commit safety Kealan Jones

Georgia is down a commit as three-star safety Kealan Jones has flipped his pledge to Georgia Tech on Monday night.

Jones committed to Georgia on G-Day in the spring. The Bulldogs pushed early for Jones and landed a quick pledge after Travaris Robinson attended a practice in the spring.

“I mean, to be honest, it was all just by chance,” Jones told DawgsHQ on April 12 when he committed. “Every school that came in, obviously, didn’t know who I was when they came in the school and they weren’t there for me until they saw my film, and then immediately, you know, they offered. So, it was kind of just by chance that they were there for some other schools.”

Jones has remained solid with Georgia through the fall.

Early in the fall, Georgia was the main program communicating with Jones.

“It’s been pretty consistent,” Jones told DawgsHQ back on Aug. 22. “We’re on a personal connection now, so it’s less of a crew and more just like, hey, what’s going on? We’re talking about practices and games.”

Recently, Jones made a flurry of visits to Georgia Tech. He was on campus last weekend and three other times this fall.

The Yellow Jackets made a late push and have pulled the Sprayberry star away from the Bulldogs two days before National Signing Day.

The opening of the early signing period is on Wednesday morning. Georgia is still waiting to hear a decision on four-star safety Blake Stewart, a former Clemson commit.
