Two Georgia players entered the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon following the Bulldogs’ 33-18 win the National Championship Game over Alabama. You can add two more names to that list as Matt Zenitz and DawgsHQ have learned that wide receiver Justin Robinson and cornerback Jalen Kimber have done the same. They are the second player at each of their positions to do so following the announcements from Ameer Speed and Jaylen Johnson on Tuesday.

Justin Robinson

Robinson never quite got his footing under him during his two seasons at Georgia. A four-star recruit out of Eagles Landing Christian Academy, Robinson played in just game as a freshman and redshirted. Then, in his second season, he played in eight, catching two passes for 18 yards including a touchdown reception in Georgia’s win over UAB. He also dealt with a little bit of the injury bug, missing time from Florida up until Georgia Tech.

While it hurts to see a young player leave, Georgia has quite a bit of returning talent at wide receiver. George Pickens and Kearis Jackson are the only two major contributors with the ability to leave for the NFL Draft, having been in Athens for three or more seasons. That leaves the likes of Jermaine Burton, Adonai Mitchell, Ladd McConkey, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and Arian Smith all set to return, along with several talented tight ends.

Jalen Kimber

Kimber is the tougher of the two to see go considering how high the coaches have been on him in the past. A former four-star and top-10 cornerback in the 2020 signing class, Kimber was in the mix for a starting spot at cornerback during the spring, competing against Kelee Ringo and Ameer Speed after seeing action in three of Georgia’s 10 games during his true freshman year. After Derion Kendrick transferred from Clemson and secured a starting spot, Ringo and Speed emerged ahead of Kimber. Then, a shoulder injury ended his 2021 season.

Given the news of both Speed and Kimber entering the transfer portal while Kendrick is likely headed to the NFL, only one of Georgia’s top four cornerbacks is set to return: Ringo. However Georgia did add two five-stars at the position and a third in the top-100 with the signing of Jaheim Singletary, Daylen Everette and Julian Humphrey.
