Mel Kiper mocked Stetson Bennett higher than you may think! We dug into that, Bennett’s Senior Bowl choice, Georgia’s wide receiver depth and National Signing Day on The Georgia Show.
It’s no secret that Stetson Bennett will never get the respect he should get in the moment.
Now, I hate speaking in absolutes. Of course there are people who do respect his game.
But Mel Kiper Jr. slotting Bennett at a third-round pick in his latest mock draft still just seems too high to some people.
‘He’s just a career backup.’
‘He’s a great college quarterback, but he’ll never play a down in the NFL.’
‘Isn’t he too old to play football?’
These are all things I see in our Twitter mentions and Instagram comments at DawgsHQ.

What is up for debate, is how much Stetson Bennett may hurt himself by skipping the Senior Bowl.

We don’t know what will happen with Rara Thomas at Georgia
Maybe Thomas will stay. Maybe he and the team will part ways after an investigation into the fight with his girlfriend and ensuing arrest.
We won’t speculate about that. We’re waiting to find out more, just like you are.
What we do know is that Georgia’s wide receiver room couldn’t have sustained a loss like AD Mitchell‘s and a potential loss like Rara Thomas’s in years past.
Would losing both of those guys sting in 2023? It isn’t a net positive, I don’t think.
But it isn’t a make-or-break situation. Whether Thomas stays or goes, there’s more depth there than there’s probably ever been in Georgia’s wide receiver and tight end rooms.
And a huge part of that equation is the talent coming in – even before the February National Signing Day
