It didn’t take long for Georgia to collect dividends from the annual scavenger hunt recruiting weekend, with three-star tight end Colton Heinrich, who just spent his official visit in Athens, announcing his commitment to the Bulldogs on Monday.

Ranked as the No. 691 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, Heinrich hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Cardinal Gibbons High School.

He is Georgia’s fourteenth commitment in the Class of 2024 and the first at the tight end position.

The Bulldogs offered Heinrich in late January of this year, and it was clearly an opportunity that struck him from the get go.

“It was an absolute shock to me knowing that I have the chance to play for the back-to-back National Champions,” Heinrich told DawgsHQ at that time. “I’ve learned that Coach [Todd] Hartley has a real love for the game.”

Hartley was clear with the rising senior that he could flourish in the Georgia system with Heinrich’s versatility a major key to that belief.

“He told me he likes how physical I am in the run game while being able to produce mismatches on the field with my receiving abilities,” Heinrich said.

And that vision was well in-line with what Heinrich sought for a home at the next level.

“I want a school that will use me in a way that first me, like giving me the ability to be spread out as a wide receiver or attached as a tight end,” he said in February. “I also want a school with great culture and amazing support from the community.”

Speaking of culture, Georgia’s is one that he’s well versed in already.

“A program that constantly wins and sends players to the league,” Heinrich said when asked what stood out regarding the Bulldogs.

Colton Heinrich ranks as the No. 35 overall tight end in the Class of 2024.

He chose the Bulldogs over offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, and LSU, among others.

Where does Georgia turn now at tight end?

Heinrich wasn’t the only tight end visiting Athens this weekend, as the top prospect at the position per the On300, Jaden Reddell, also made the trek.

Georgia is considered the heavy favorite for Reddell’s services per the On3 Recruiting Prediciton Machine.

The Dawgs recently made the cut for his top five, and it’s clear he’s seen some of the same things as Heinrich when it comes to the usage of his position.

“Georgia’s production at tight end really stands out,” he said specific to Georgia. “That and my relationship with Todd Hartley are big. Then Georgia is back-to-back national champions. The way they are winning is something I look at too.”

Look for Hartley to turn his attention even more heavily toward Reddell now, as the standout tight end will be on campus in Athens for his official visit on June 17.
