IU football QB Fernando Mendoza invited to Manning Passing Academy

IU football quarterback Fernando Mendoza is one of the few college QBs in the country that has been invited to the prestigious Manning Passing Academy. This will be the 29th season of the Manning Passing Academy which has seen some of the top college quarterbacks ever be a part of.
Fernando Mendoza is one of just three quarterbacks from the Big Ten Conference that has been extended an invite joining Austin Novosad (Oregon) and Drew Allar (Penn State).
Mendoza was also invited and attended last year’s Manning Passing Academy as well when he was at California.
“So I got footwork advice from Peyton (Manning),” said Fernando Mendoza after attending last year. “Eli (Manning)…talked about film study technique and game week on what he (Eli) would study Monday…Tuesday…Wednesday. Bill Belichick was there and told me a few stories about Tom Brady and Randy Moss and how to motivate your receivers.”
“It was a great experience and a great confidence booster for myself.

“It’s all about the quarterback, you got to build around the quarterback. What are his strengths and then your personnel,” IU football head coach Curt Cignetti said in the spring. “The offense is flexible. We’ve had all different kinds [of quarterbacks] and they’ve all been players on offense.”
“I mean, he’s a big guy, he’s got good movement. Quick release, can make all the throws. He’s accurate also and throws the ball on the run really well,” Cignetti said of Mendoza.
