QB Tommy Poholsky headed to Iowa
Quarterback Tommy Poholsky is headed to Iowa. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Colorado native announced today that he has accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity from the Hawkeyes.
Poholsky is the son of the late Tom Poholsky, who played quarterback at Iowa under head coach Hayden Fry from 1985-89 and tragically passed away in October of 2021.
“What made my decision was how close I felt emotionally not only to this team, but also this school,” Poholsky told HawkeyeReport.com. “Also, the way that the coaches and players all treated me really made me feel welcome.”
“I have been dreaming about this since I was a kid and I’m so blessed to have it become a reality,” said Poholsky.
Throughout his official visit to this weekend, Poholsky felt a special connection to his father and had him in his thoughts as he announced that he would be following in his footsteps at Iowa.
“Most importantly I am thankful for my dad being the person who sparked not only my love for Iowa but my love for football,” Poholsky said in his announcement. “I know he would be so proud and excited to see where I am today.”
As a senior this past season, Poholsky threw for 2,622 yards and 37 touchdowns for Evergreen High School. Along with Iowa, he also considered DePauw, CSU-Pueblo, and Denison, among others.
