HawkeyeReport

Hello and welcome to the new home of HawkeyeReport.com, the place for the best coverage of the Iowa Hawkeyes!

I can’t say thank you enough for all the messages and posts on our new home here at On3.com. So many times in the last week I have wanted to respond to folks expressing positive feelings about our work the past twenty years and how you had followed us here.

I’m guessing the #1 question all of you have is why did we move to On3.com?

The answer for us was the people here and the trust we have in them. It is also involves the cutting edge approach and embrace of the world of name, image, and likeness by the leadership of On3.com.

Let me explain.

In the early spring of 2003, I received an e-mail from a man named Bobby Burton. He was part of the leadership group at Rivals.com and wanted to talk to me about taking over the Iowa site on Rivals. My friend Jon Miller was leaving for Scout.com and my plan was to go with him. Then Bobby reached out and I made my way to Nashville to meet with him and Shannon Terry. The rest, as they say, is history.

There’s no one in this business that I respect more than Shannon Terry. He’s a builder of outstanding websites in this space and this is his greatest masterpiece. He pitched us more than once over the years to join him and we always politely declined. This time it was different and it was the perfect time to make the move.

The other factor in all of this was all of our friends were either already over at On3.com or headed in that direction. If you look at the Big Ten sites that are on the roster here, for the most part it’s former Rivals sites. Huskeronline.com, GoldandBlack.com, SpartanMag.com, TheWolverine.com, and BlueWhiteIllustrated.com are all here. There are also the folk from Warchant.com, VolQuest.com, and BlueandGold.com. That roster will continue to grow and many of those folks have been our working partners for twenty years.

It’s also worth mentioning that the team of national recruiting reporters is outstanding. In the high school football space, there are few people better than Chad Simmons. Sam Spiegelman is fantastic and Hayes Fawcett is a rising star in the business. Also very important to us in the move is the basketball recruiting piece of the equation. Jamie Shaw is incredible and a true grinder on the recruiting trail and Joe Tipton is outstanding and making a name for himself in the business. Then in the NIL space, my great friend of many years, Jeremy Crabtree is leading the charge at On3.com covering the latest developments and what it means to college sports fans.

We wouldn’t have made this move without the ability to keep our team together. I am thrilled that Blair Sanderson will be with us here at On3.com. He is the best in the business at covering recruiting with accurate information. We also have Kyle Huesmann staying with us. He’s growing by the day in this business and provides great coverage of Iowa women’s hoops, Hawkeye baseball, and field hockey. We also kept our great photographer, Hawkeye Images, on board.

We have an incredible offer for Hawkeye fans to join us here at On3.com and HawkeyeReport.com. For just $1 until the start of the next football season, you can sign up as a subscriber and you can cancel at any time.

One final point. I mentioned earlier that one of the selling points regarding the move was the way that On3.com has embraced the world of NIL. We will be partnering up with our friends with the Iowa Swarm and rename the Hawkeye Lounge to now become the Iowa Swarm Lounge. As an added bonus, below your screen name if you are a member of the Iowa Swarm NIL Collective, we will note that and you will show up at Iowa Swarm Member.  That way everyone on the message board will know that you are a member of the Iowa Swarm Collective. Also, our great friend Tx_Hawk will be sharing his news with our subscribers and keep us updated on the latest work of the Iowa Swarm Collective.

Thank you again for all of the kind words of support. We appreciate you taking the time to read this and the opportunity to earn your business. We will continue to do the work that we have done for the past twenty years on the Iowa beat and can’t wait to get started. Let’s get to work.
