3-2-1: Kansas State will hit the recruiting trail

THREE THINGS WE LEARNED

1. GOOD HEALTH: Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman announced on Tuesday at his weekly press conference that none of the injuries suffered during the game at Iowa State are considered long-term and most will resume practice next week. That means that K-State will have guys like Deuce Vaughn, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Nate Matlack and Daniel Green when they face TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

2. BAHA-MAR BAHAMAS HOOPS CHAMPIONSHIP: Jerome Tang and Kansas State know what multi-team event that they will be in next season. K-State will play in the Baha-Mar Bahamas Hoops Championship. Only two of the other three teams are known, but it is Providence and Miami. That will be interesting if Nijel Pack is still a Hurricane at that time.

3. BIG 12 MEDIA DAY: We are a week away from Big 12 Basketball Media Day at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas State will be represented by their previously mentioned head coach but players Markquis Nowell, Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Keyontae Johnson as well. It will be our first opportunity to speak with Keyontae since he made the transfer from Florida.

TWO QUESTIONS

1. DUKE: Though K-State seems to be out of the woods when it comes to injuries, Khalid Duke is probably the only one whose status is in question for the TCU game. Everyone else will be available. Duke’s setback versus Iowa State is a bit newer and he was unable to return after leaving the game in the first quarter. I would consider him questionable for that matchup with the Horned Frogs.

2. JALON DANIELS: Who knows if Jalon Daniels will play again this season for Kansas? Transparently, I had been told by one source that it would be a 2-4 week injury and another shared that 4-6 weeks would be the timetable. Both more than left open the possibility that the Jayhawk signal-caller would play again this season. However, a freelance reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World reported otherwise, and that seemed to be refuted by both head coach Lance Leipold and his star quarterback.

ONE PREDICTION

1. COACHES ON THE ROAD: I’m back to picking the low-hanging fruit. Kansas State coaches are expected to hit the recruiting trail during the bye week. They haven’t yet, but they typically exit Manhattan on Thursday during the bye week and make school stops throughout the day on Friday and attend games on Friday night. It would also not be surprising to hear about a few of them showing up on the sidelines of junior college games on Saturday as well. However, Chris Klieman will likely attend Kansas Wesleyan’s game so that he can watch his son Colby Klieman play college football this weekend.
