1. Texas (8-2, 19-4)

Texas has won their last four Big 12 games, with the most recent coming against Kansas State, and hold sole possession of first place in the conference. The Longhorns prepare to defend that spot tonight in a matchup at Kansas. (Last: 2)

2. Iowa State (7-3, 16-6)

Iowa State’s most recent massive win at home over the Jayhawks has them sitting pretty by themselves at second place in the league standings. Hilton Coliseum continues to be a tough place to play. They also took down K-State in Ames.

A trip to Morgantown on Wednesday won’t be easy, but the Cyclones have continued to prove many doubters wrong, including myself. (Last: 3)

3. Baylor (6-4, 17-6)

Baylor’s one loss in their last eight contests came against a red hot Texas team by only five points. The Bears have figured things out on both ends of the floor and Keyonte George is only gaining valuable experience with each day.

Scott Drew’s club will pose a stiff challenge for Kansas State in the return matchup later this season. (Last: 4)

4. Kansas (6-4, 18-5)

Despite winning just two of their last six contests, the Jayhawks are heading back in the right direction. The win over Kansas State at home last week was necessary for them, even if they couldn’t topple Baylor or Iowa State on the road. (Last: 6)

5. Kansas State (6-4, 18-5)

K-State is on a skid. The Wildcats have lost three of their last four games and the two game losing streak they’re on is a first for Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang and his squad in Manhattan. K-State will look avoid falling in three straight by taking down TCU at home tomorrow night. (Last: 1)

6. Oklahoma State (5-5, 14-9)

The Cowboys are playing as good of basketball as anyone in the league at the moment. Heck, the Horned Frogs didn’t have Eddie Lampkin or Mike Miles in the win over TCU, but Oklahoma State didn’t have Avery Anderson. Nobody is mentioning that detail.

K-State will have their hands full when they go to Stillwater later on in the year. (Last: 7)

7. TCU (6-4, 17-6)

There just isn’t any shortage of fun basketball in the Big 12. The last three Big 12 opponents for Kansas State were all ranked No. 12 or better in the country. Interestingly enough, on the flip side, TCU hasn’t had as tough of a slate.

They’ve faced four straight unranked teams and most recently lost to Oklahoma State on the road.  (Last: 5)

8. West Virginia (3-7, 14-9)

Having won three out of their last four contests, West Virginia seems to be separating themselves from the two bottom feeders of the Big 12. Iowa State coming to town on Wednesday should be a wire-to-wire conference matchup. (Last: 8)

9. Oklahoma (2-8, 12-11)

Both Oklahoma and Texas Tech have underachieved this season. Each have decent enough rosters to be a top seven team in the league. However, things just aren’t going right for either Porter Moser or Mark Adams.

It’s interesting that K-State has yet to play the Sooners. (Last: 9)

10. Texas Tech (1-9, 12-11) (Last: 10)

They may have beaten Iowa State and proved that the bottom of the Big 12 is better than the bottom of the SEC, but I’m still expecting Texas Tech to revert back to a slew of losses. They head to Stillwater on Wednesday before hosting Kansas State on Saturday.
