If we’re to believe the internet chatter today, Jaylen Brown, the missing piece to Kentucky’s next Final Four run, is down to Michigan and Kentucky, and Kansas in a very close third. The other two schools on his final list, Cal and North Carolina, are still in play, I guess, but John Calipari’s real competition lies with John Beilein, Bill Self and Bill Self’s hairpiece.

So tonight, because I care about Brown’s future, I would like to share with our readers 10 of the millions of reasons why he should make the smart pick and sign with the University of Kentucky.

With all due respect to the other schools, you suck.

Here’s why UK…

1. Because Michigan is a football school.

Want to be BMOC in Ann Arbor? Good luck stealing Jim Harbaugh’s spotlight. Michigan is, and always has been, a football school.

And all eyes are on Harbaugh’s first season.

2. Because Kentucky OWNS Kansas.

The two teams have met three times in the Calipari era. The Cats won those three games by a combined 50 points, with one national title.

2014: Kentucky 72, Kansas 40
2012: Kentucky 67, Kansas 59 (NCAA Championship)
2011: Kentucky 75, Kansas 65

3. Because Xavier Henry, Josh Selby…

… Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore and soon-to-be-busts Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander. Or way back to Brandon Rush.

Meanwhile, from Kentucky (since 2010): Anthony Davis, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Nerlens Noel, and Julius Randle, to name a couple.

UK builds NBA stars, Kansas builds benchwarmers.*

*Andrew Wiggins doesn’t count because Andrew Wiggins is Andrew Wiggins.

4. Because who goes to Michigan games?

Again, it’s all football in Ann Arbor.

Average attendance
Kentucky: 22,964
Michigan: 12,698

5. Because Kansas will have a new head coach in like a month.

Because Bill Self is going to Oklahoma City.

Kidding.

(Kind of.)

6. Because Kentucky is closest to home.

I don’t know what kind of car Mama Brown drives but I can’t imagine she’d be making too many road trips to Michigan or Kansas from Marietta, Georgia.

Lexington, on the other hand, can be done in just over five hours. Three KSR podcasts and she’s there to see her baby boy.

7. Because a good NBA prospect needs a good NCAA Tournament run.

And nobody likes losing in the NCAA Tournament more than Kansas. In Self’s 12 years, the Jayhawks played up to their seed only four times.

The other years? Losses to Wichita State, Stanford, VCU, Northern Iowa, Bradley and Bucknell stand out. (And the aforementioned title game loss to Kentucky.)

8. Because Kentucky has the best point guard.

And he loves to share the rock.

A scorer like Jaylen Brown craves (and needs) a pass-first point guard like Tyler Ulis. Ulis is going to find Brown and he’s going to find him often, leading to more and more scoring opportunities, exactly what Brown wants.

To quote Jay Bilas last fall in the Bahamas, “A lot of players look, Tyler Ulis sees.”

Give me him over Frank Mason III at Kansas or Michigan’s Spike Albrecht and Derrick Walton Jr.

9. Because there’s plenty of clock at Kentucky.

Unlike the other schools, Kentucky lacks a go-to scorer. In fact, Kentucky lacks anyone that can be considered a small forward, at all. Brown will get 30+ minutes per game at UK in the three spot with no real threat to take away from his minutes or his touches.

10. Because it’s Kentucky.

  • NBA scouts at every game.
  • MAXIMUM EXPOSURE. The best in college basketball.
  • Final Fours. Like, every year these days.
  • Raising Cane’s.
  • The most passionate fan base in sports.
  • The Joe Craft Center.
  • Jay Z.
  • Drake. (Whenever Drake is not rooting for someone else.)
  • Rupp Arena.
  • RAISING CANE’S.
  • And so much more…
