2006-2007 UK Recruits....Where We Stand

by:Matt Jones09/12/06
Often times I get asked, "Matt we like the updates, but sometimes I miss a few. Let me know where everyone stands." So at this point, lets review what we know about the 2006-2007 recruiting class. Virtually ALL of this information has been broken HERE on Kentucky Sports Radio (through interviews that you can hear), through my own conversations with the guys or has been from folks like Mike Sullivan, Brian Eldridge or other internet gurus. Here we go: Patrick Patterson -- Patterson's status is simple. He has official visits lined up with Duke, Wake Forest and UK and has already finished his visit at Florida. All of the above schools have scheduled or will be scheduling visits in-home for this week or next. He will be at Midnight Madness at UK. Friends with Jai Lucas and playing with him is a factor. Expects a decision in the fall. Jai Lucas -- Coming to UK for Midnight Madness. Has official visits lined up for UK, Maryland and Oklahoma. Has said he may be willing to commit before finishing all of the visits. Maybe the most likely UK player at this point, Lucas is good friends with Patrick Patterson and has said he wants to play with him on the next level. AJ Stewart -- Coming to Midnight Madness at UK. Conflicting information on whether he has an offer at this time. Has said to me that UK is his leader and it is the ONLY school at which he now has a visit scheduled. Looking at a number of other schools as well, but if Kentucky offers, they are the presumptive leader. Tubby has an in-home visit scheduled for September 18th. Marcus and Markieff Morris -- The Philadelphia twins are ALSO scheduled to be at Midnight Madness. Have offers for 07 to join the Cats and Indiana and offers for 07 or 08 to join Memphis. Still have not decided whether they will wait until 08 but Kentucky is said to be pushing them for this year. In-home visit from UK expected early next week. Marshall Moses -- Kentucky Sports Radio interview two weeks ago broke that he is going to be in the 07 class, not the 08 class as expected. Looked at by many schools including Florida and Kentucky. Does have an offer for 08 from UK but the status of his 07 offer is up in the air. Said in the interview he has an offer for 07. No official visit scheduled yet for this fall. Would likely commit to UK, in my view, if given the chance. JJ Hickson -- High school stud who has an offer from UK. Said a few weeks ago that he was down to 5 schools of which Kentucky was not one, but has since changed that. Choosing between Florida, Georgetown, Tennessee, NC State and Kentucky. Likely Florida's to lose, although some folks believe Kentucky may be a close second. He has official visits scheduled with all schools except Kentucky...he is expected to schedule one very soon with the Cats. Darnell Gant -- Kentucky Sports Radio reported last night that Gant has an official visit to Kentucky scheduled in two weeks. Reports are that Tubby may be heading for an in-home visit this week for this LA player who does have an offer. A late riser in the eyes of many, he is choosing between Washington, Oregon and UK. Washington presumed to be the leader, but speaks glowingly of UK. Chris Barnes -- The most recent UK offer goes to Chris Barnes. As you heard on the radio show, Barnes is being recruited by Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Wichita St...etc. In-home visit is coming and a likely on-campus visit as well. Stephon Pettigrew -- Lost in the recent shuffle. Elizabethtown player as of yet does not have an official offer from UK. Has been to Kentucky for an unofficial visit but no word if he will be at Midnight Madness. Jeff Brooks --- Fast rising Louisville Doss player took an unofficial visit to UK this past week. No word yet on whether he has an offer but Kentucky has been expressing increasing interest. Grew up a Louisville fan and some believe he is waiting for their call. Likely will be a spring decision to any potential school. Tyrone Nash --- The name still hangs out there. Said to still be considering UK but is likely bound for Rutgers or St Johns in the fall of 07. Kentucky still has some presence, but he has already taken his visit to UK. Ramon Harris -- The Alaskan Assassin still may end up at UK in January. Needs a core class that may be finished in the fall. Rumor of a possible visit to UK THIS weekend. Has told many in the Alaska area that he will be playing at UK sooner rather than later. That is the update. Our goal here at Kentucky Sports Radio is to try and give you the most up to date and breaking recruiting news. If you have followed the blog and listen to the show, you have heard all these insights before, but we wanted to update the more casual visitor. Now listen to this week's show: Episode 5
