2017 Wildcat Postseason Honors; What About Next Season?
Seven Wildcats earned postseason honors. Six of the seven are returning for the 2018 season and will be considered for national and conference honors. Which Cats could join them?
Outside Linebacker Josh Allen
2017 Honors
- Associated Press All-SEC 2nd Team
- Phil Steele All-SEC 3rd Team
- PFF First Team All-SEC
- AP and Sports Illustrated Midseason All-American 2nd Team
2018 Potential Honors
Josh Allen could also push for All-American and All-SEC honors as well as being on preseason watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, and Butkus Awards.
Receiver/Returner Lynn Bowden
2017 Honors
- Coaches’ SEC All Freshman Team
- SEC Freshman of the Week, October 9th
2018 Potential Honors
Lynn Bowden’s diversified talents will garner Paul Hornung Award attention as well as all-conference kick/punt returner.
Tight End C.J. Conrad

- Phil Steele All SEC 3rd Team
2018 Potential Honors
C.J. Conrad will again be All-SEC as well as contend for the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end.
Safety Mike Edwards
2017 Honors
- Phil Steele All-SEC 1st Team
2018 Potential Honors
Mike Edwards could join Allen and Snell for consideration for preseason All-American and All-SEC lists as well as being a part of the Jim Thorpe Award watch list.
Linebacker Courtney Love

Kicker Austin MacGinnis

Benny Snell Jr. should be considered for preseason All-American, All-SEC teams and named to the Heisman, Walter Camp, and Doak Walker Trophy watch lists.
Linebacker/Defensive End Denzil Ware
2017 Honors
- Phil Steele All-SEC 3rd Team
- Two Time SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week vs. Vanderbilt and Southern Miss
2018 Potential Honors
Denzil Ware will appear on preseason All-SEC teams and could be on the Ted Hendricks watch list.
2018 Potential Newcomers to the Trophy Circuit
Please note the word POTENTIAL. These Wildcats would have to enjoy their best season in Lexington to be considered:
— All-SEC Offense: Guard Logan Stenberg, Guard Bunchy Stallings, and WR Dorian Baker.
— All-SEC Defense: Linebacker Jordan Jones (All SEC in 2016, missed time due to injury in 2017), Cornerback Derrick Baity, Nose Tackle Quinton Bohanna.
— All-SEC Special Teams: Returner Lynn Bowden.
— Freshman All-SEC: Kicker Chance Poore, Nose Tackle/Guard Marquan McCall.
2018 could present an extraordinarily high number of Wildcats being in consideration for national and conference honors.
