A recent Louisville football decommit is taking a second look at the Kentucky Wildcats.

Jeremiah Collins, a class of 2023 cornerback out of Murfreesboro, TN, backed off his commitment to the Cardinals in late June, roughly six months after he initially pledged to UL. Considered a high three-star talent according to the On3 Consensus, the 6-foot-2, 160-pounder has been a sought-after prospect throughout the area over the last year.

Prior to choosing Louisville in late January, Collins held offers from the likes of Kentucky, Purdue, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Illinois. UK and Purdue were the first two schools to offer him a Division I scholarship, with UL not far behind. After originally starting his high school career at Louisville Male, he has since transferred to Tennessee powerhouse Oakland High School for his final season ahead of college.

Despite the move, his connections to the Bluegrass State have continued across the border. Kentucky is on Collins’ list of potential options. He’s been in talks with the coaching staff and plans on taking a visit to Lexington sometime this fall.

Definitely visiting them this year for sure,” Collins told KSR earlier this week. “They’re one of the top teams to visit this season.”

Along with Kentucky, Collins added that he would also like to visit Mississippi State, Alabama, West Virginia, Liberty, and possibly a few others. He is allowed up to five official visits.

During his 2021 junior season at Male, Collins recorded 19 total tackles, 16 of them solo, including one sack and two interceptions (one he returned for a touchdown) in 10 games played. Male made it all the way to the Class 6A finals before falling to St. Xavier 31-21 at Kroger Field.

Currently, Kentucky’s ’23 class ranks 33rd national and has 15 players committed, including a pair of defensive backs in four-star Avery Stuart and three-star Jaremiah Anglin.
