Dominic Nichols is in the middle of taking his official visits, but that didn’t stop him from trimming down his list of college options.

On Thursday afternoon, the four-star class of 2024 EDGE recruit announced on social media that he’s down to eight programs. Nichols will choose from a list that includes Kentucky, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Florida State, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. Clocking in at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, the Ijamsville (MD) Oakdale product is considered the No. 370 overall rising senior and No. 25 EDGE prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Nichols is coming off an official visit to Wisconsin over the weekend and has two more scheduled for June. He’ll travel to Michigan this weekend before coming to Lexington for his official visit at Kentucky the weekend of June 16-18.

If we check out On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan has the lead in this recruitment with a 66.6 percent chance to land the four-star talent. And while Nichols has not yet scheduled an official visit with Penn State, he’s unofficially visited the Nittany Lions at least four times over the last 18 months. He also unofficially visited Georgia in late May and picked up an offer from Clemson a few days later.

But Kentucky will have a perfect opportunity to shift the tides when Nichols comes to campus in less than two weeks. UK defensive coordinator Brad White has already made a solid impression.

“I feel like Kentucky, they’re coming up and they’ve been getting better every year, so I’d want to be a part of that. Coach White, he’s a top defensive coordinator and he is about relationships,” Nichols told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month. “He had let me know that he was going to build a relationship with me before he offered, so that all means a lot.”

Nichols recently told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ that he’s always been a fan of the Kentucky football program even before they offered him on April 15. He’s already visited UK once back in the spring but will receive the red-carpet treatment when he officially visits next weekend.
