4-star Kentucky target Mikkel Skinner decommits from Cincinnati
Mikkel Skinner officially visited Kentucky last weekend. On Friday, the four-star recruit announced his decommitment from Cincinnati.
A 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end out of Greer, SC, Skinner had been committed to the Bearcats since June. But Kentucky, along with a couple of other schools, began to make a significant push in the summer. Led by associate head coach Vince Marrow, the Wildcats are among the frontrunners to flip Skinner.
UK will have to fight off his home state team, the South Carolina Gamecocks, to land his next commitment though. Skinner, ranked No. 386 overall in 2025 by the On3 Industry Ranking, will be in Columbia this weekend to watch South Carolina host No. 16 LSU as part of College Gameday.
Kentucky has real competition in flipping Skinner with South Carolina. He’ll watch them play this Saturday for the third weekend in a row. He visited for the Gamecocks’ season-opening win over Old Dominion and then watched them beat Kentucky in Lexington last weekend. The term “dream school” has been used by Skinner to describe Shane Beamer’s program.

But Marrow, who also coaches the tight ends at UK, is always tough to count out when he locks in on a recruit. There are currently three RPM picks from On3 logged in favor of Skinner ultimately choosing Kentucky. But the Gamecocks are trending in the right direction ahead of an important weekend. Will his visit to South Carolina shift the momentum completely?
Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked 23rd in the country (12th in the SEC) with 17 commits on board.
