Could Kentucky add its next commitment in the class of 2023 this week? That’s expected to be the case, as five-star point guard Robert Dillingham will make his college decision on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. ET.

The nation’s No. 3 overall prospect in On3’s player rankings will choose between Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville and USC, he announced Monday afternoon.

ESPN National Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi reports Dillingham will announce his decision on ESPN’s social media platforms Friday evening.

During his time in Louisville at Nike EYBL Session III back in May, Dillingham said he was ready to commit, adding that the school he chose was the right fit.

“I’m pretty sure I’m ready to make a decision,” he said. “It’s never too early, never too late. I just feel like I’m ready and the program I choose will be a good fit for me.”

All signs are pointing to Kentucky as the ultimate destination for the 6-foot-2, 165-pound point guard out of Charlotte, NC. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Wildcats an 80.8% chance to land Dillingham, with 247Sports recruiting analyst Travis Branham — who boasts an all-time Crystal Ball hit percentage of 93.51% — telling KSR that Kentucky is the overwhelming favorite down the stretch.

“Kentucky, they missed out on him the first time,” he said. “Chin Coleman, the minute (Rob) decommitted from NC State, he told him, ‘I’m not going to be missing out on you this time.’ I think Chin Coleman is going to land one of the most dynamic scorers and shot makers in the entire country. … I’m very, very confident in that one, that Kentucky will land Robert Dillingham.”

Dillingham says Kentucky is a program that is recruiting him to be an instant-impact piece in the backcourt, adding that the Wildcats would like to pair him up alongside fellow five-star guard DJ Wagner.

“It definitely means a lot,” Dillingham said of Kentucky’s interest. “They were heavy on me, recruiting me before I committed to NC State. … Really just being an impact player as soon as I come in. That’s what I talk to them about. If DJ (Wagner) were to go there, we’d both be impact players. That’s the role they see me having.”

It’s a pairing he’d be open to.

“For sure (I’d play with DJ),” he added. “I feel like I’m an unselfish player and can play with anyone, adapt to how they play. He’s a bucket just like me. Playing with Aden (Hollaway on Team CP3), it’s the same thing. I let him hoop, and I can play with anyone who is a smart guard, honestly. … He’s a great player for sure. Me and him together, we’re both playmakers, we could play off each other.”

What are his goals once he arrives on campus? To be the best and help his team make a run in March.

“I definitely see myself being a top player in college, definitely getting deep in March Madness, that’s my goal,” Dillingham told KSR. “I feel like I already know I’m going to get drafted because I’m going to put in the work — I promise. It’s really just the accolades that come with going to a school, winning improves your draft stock.”

Kentucky is on the verge of adding a top-three recruit in high school basketball.
