A couple got engaged in front of Mark Pope after Kentucky's 48-point win

Nothing is more romantic than Malachi Moreno double-doubles and six players scoring in double figures in a 48-point win for Kentucky over Valparaiso. When the moment hits, you have to take advantage of it, right? That’s exactly what a couple did inside Rupp Arena, long after the final buzzer and most of the crowd back home in their beds by now. For the true diehards, you can stick around and wait for Mark Pope to go through the long, long, long line of fans wanting pictures and autographs — he does it for essentially everyone, every game.

This time, though, one man decided to drop down on his knee and propose to his girlfriend with the phone in Pope’s hand, recording the entire exchange.

It all happened fast, so I only caught the tail end of the proposal, but captured all of the celebration with plenty of hugs and tears to go around. The second-year Kentucky coach was right there to hug both while filming the entire thing, as excited as the newly-engaged couple with remaining fans in the stands giving them a lovebirds a standing ovation.

Take a look:

Dylan Ballard of A Sea of Blue caught more of it at the floor level — and got a picture of the couple with the King and Queen of Kentucky basketball, Mark and Lee Anne Pope.

What a night it was for the couple soaking in a big-time blowout win for the Cats, scoring 107 points while shooting 54.4 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from three and 84.6 percent at the line with an insane 27-6 assist-to-turnover ratio and holding the Beacons to 28.4 percent overall and 23.5 percent from deep.

They get to enjoy a weekend with Kentucky atop the college basketball world with in-state rival Louisville right around the corner on Tuesday at the KFC Yum! Center. That one would only make this stretch sweeter for the future Mr. and Mrs. BBN members.
