A Difficult day in the Big Blue Nation

by:Matt Jones04/17/07
Its a very sad day around these parts as we found out this morning that Mike Brent, a writer for the Cats Pause has passed away. Mike was a young guy who was one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet. He was a true Kentucky fan who loved the team he covered and was one of the best at understanding and covering the recruiting world. Mike suffered a spinal cord injury at an early age and overcame a great deal throughout his life. He was passionate about his job and knew the recruiting landscape as well as anyone. I always enjoyed our conversations over the past year as we emailed each other about the our various stories. He had a great sense of humor and I found that even when we disagreed, he always remained respectful and kept a proper perspective.....something often lacking in the sporting world. It is difficult to find words or reasons when someone so young passes away and today is a very sad day for all of those who have come in contact with Mike. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and I hope all UK fans will remember Mike in some way today. For those of you who dont know Mike, here is an article about him that sheds some more insight on him.
