A GREAT Game!

oly_a_team_usa_412.jpg Now that was great! Chances are, you are reading this after waking up and having a normal night's sleep. Well usually I would say that was a good decision, but tonight you missed out by skipping out on as one of the more entertaining games I can remember. The US basketball team beat Spain 118-107, but the game was as exciting as an Olympic game can be. The Spanish team was VERY good. Remember Rudy Fernandez and Ricky Rubio, as they will be very solid NBA players in the near future. Juan Carlos Navarro and Pau Gasol were tremendous and for the entire game, the outcome was in question. But in the end, Kobe was Kobe, big shots came down the stretch and the USA won, with me clapping like a kid at 4:30 in the morning. This basketball team was a great thing to watch. The young men involved cared deeply about the experience and acted with class and dignity on and off the court. To watch the end of the game, and see a guy like Carmelo on the floor cheering his teammates on and to watch Kobe, Lebron, Dewayne Wade, etc giving maximum effort for their country's team was tremendous. A lot of credit for that goes to Coach K, who we rightly deride for many of his Duke antics, but who helped create a great atmosphere for a performance the country can be proud of. Add to it the fact that Tayshaun Prince was not only on the team, but he contributed heavily in the championship game, and it was wonderful to view. I will now go to bed as we approach 5 am, but if you get a chance, check out the game on replay this afternoon. It is one for the archives.
