A reader has an encounter with Rajon Rondo

by:Matt Jones06/14/06
For those of you who may have mentioned, KSR radio reader (and part-time radio contributor) Mosley had this story about seeing Rajon Rondo today. I thought I would share (and yes I am the friend who goes up to people and talks to them....but it is for you, the readers). I will offer an example of what gets Kentucky fans excited. As I was sitting at the Indianapolis airport today, I happended to notice I was sitting across from one Rajon Rondo. Now I did not want to disturb Mr. Rondo as he had his ear buds in and I didn’t want to be “that guy” (although I have a certain friend who has never had that problem). However, I did notice several things about Rajon. 1. He was dressed in a black T-shirt, black denim shorts—although they were long enough to be considered baggy capris, and white socks with sport sandals. 2. At one point he made a phone call on his Blackberry and commented to the person on the other end of the line that he had been in Indy working out for the Pacers. In response to a question from the other end of the line, he replied that Larry Bird had been present at the try-out as had other higher ups. He also mentioned that either Quincy Douby from Rutgers was there, or would be at the try-out he was going to next. 3. Most importantly, Rondo had his Toshiba laptop out the entire time that we were waiting and what is it that future NBA lottery picks watch in their downtime? No other than the complete first season of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” That’s right, while I was texting my friends like a thirteen-year-old girl that had just seen David Cassidy (he’s still popular, right?), Rondo was laughing, audibly, about the antics of Willy from Philly and his lovable, but overbearing Uncle Phillip.
