The Kentucky football program has landed another offensive lineman commitment in the 2024 recruiting class. Three-Star interior offensive lineman Aba Selm announced his commitment to the Wildcats Thursday morning on Kentucky Sports Radio.

Selm, a Kentucky native from Simon Kenton High School in Independence, made his decision shortly after visiting Lexington for the Wildcats’ junior day on January 28. He held nearly 20 scholarship offers, including Penn State, Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois and Louisville.

“I really do think Kentucky is a really great fit for me,” Aba Selm recently told KSR. “It’s a coach and staff that really understand me and I can work with them.”

Aba Selm is top-ranked player from the state of Kentucky according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The three-star prospect is ranked as the No. 46 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle.

“They’re a big O-line school,” Selm said. “I love the way their offensive line plays, especially the technique that’s used to teach their players and help them develop for the next level. It really would be a big part of my recruiting process. They’re lineman heavy up front.”

Selm shared with Matt Jones on KSR that ultimately his relationships with Kentucky’s coaches were the deciding factor.

“Really the staff there. I just have that great connection with them. With Coach [Zach] Yenser, [Vince] Marrow, they’re the guys you want to be around, help you develop, be the man you want to be after college. It’s not just about the NFL,” he said.

“They’re great. They’re very energetic. They really bring that hard work and focus. They always check up on me. They’re just great guys.”

What does Selm bring to Kentucky’s offensive line?

“I’m very dominant, whether that’s guard or center,” he said. “I’m finishing blocks. I’m great on pulling counter-wise.”

He also would like to improve his footwork and his hands on down blocks.

“I like to work on getting used to being able to mimic my defenders on the pass game,” Selm said.

Kentucky was among the first programs to get involved in Selm’s recruitment, becoming his second scholarship offer in September.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound lineman joins three-star offensive lineman Hayes Johnson as the second commitment in UK’s 2024 recruiting class after Johnson announced his decision on January 26.
