Three-Star interior offensive lineman Aba Selm is among the attendees for Kentucky football’s Junior Day on Saturday, Jan. 28, and had high praise for the Wildcat program. Selm, a Kentucky native from Simon Kenton High School in Independence, said he likes the Wildcats’ reputation for developing offensive linemen.

“They’re a big o-line school,” Selm said. “I love the way their offensive line plays, especially the technique that’s used to teach their players and help them develop for the next level. It really would be a big part of my recruiting process. They’re lineman heavy up front.”

Selm said he’s using this weekend’s visit to get a better feel for the campus.

“It’s just to feel around the campus more, getting to look at the dorms,” he said. “That’s really it so far. I’ve gotten to see the field and locker room.”

As far as a commitment, Selm said he’s “sitting back right now” and is “not really there yet.” However, he did discuss some of the factors he’s taking into consideration when the time comes.

“[I’m looking for] a place to call home,” he said. “Right now, I’m letting my offers come in and see what I can work with. I really do think Kentucky is a really great fit for me. It’s a coach and staff that really understand me and I can work with them.”

Ranked by On3 as the No. 6 player in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Selm rates as the No. 52 interior offensive lineman in the nation.

“I’m very dominant, whether that’s guard or center,” Selm said. “I’m finishing blocks. I’m great on pulling counter-wise.”

He also would like to improve his footwork and his hands on down blocks.

“I like to work on getting used to being able to mimic my defenders on the pass game,” Selm said.

Kentucky was among the first programs to get involved in Selm’s recruitment, becoming his second scholarship offer in September.

“I’m basically the guy they want,” Selm said. “I’m top of their list right now. They want me there. I’d be a really big factor for that offensive line.”
