Andrew Harrison Signs With Cleveland Cavaliers

[caption id="attachment_250021" align="aligncenter" width="600"] (Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports)[/caption] Former Kentucky guard Andrew Harrison has signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sources: Cleveland is signing guard Andrew Harrison on a two-way contract. Cavs waived guard John Holland. Cleveland will keep Harrison on NBA roster as long as he’s with franchise – no G League assignment. He can spend 45 days with Cavs before team must convert him to NBA deal.

Harrison was recently waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Nov. 1 after appearing in only one game this season. Last season, Harrison played the best basketball of his career in the absence of Mike Conley. Conley missed the majority of the season with an Achilles injury and Harrison filled in his spot. Harrison averaged 9.5 points and 3.2 assists per game last season in 56 games, starting 46 of them. I recently wrote about why it was odd that Harrison wasn't receiving any playing time despite his improvement last season before he was ultimately waived, and his arrival in Cleveland will surely see him playing plenty of minutes. The Cavaliers starting point guard, George Hill, is expected to miss at least two weeks after reports surfaced earlier Thursday that he was diagnosed with a sprained shoulder. Non-coincidentally, Harrison was signed only hours later. The Cavaliers are currently 1-10 and look to be the worst team in the NBA. With All-Star Kevin Love out for the foreseeable future and now Hill missing time, Harrison will have plenty of opportunities to prove the Grizzlies wrong.
