Statesboro is turning into Lexington South. For the third time this offseason, Georgia Southern is taking in a former Kentucky Wildcat from the transfer portal.

Wide receiver Rahsaan Lewis announced he will be taking his talented to Georgia Southern for his final year of eligibility. He will join tight end Keaton Upshaw and quarterback Beau Allen on Clay Helton’s Sun Belt squad. This is the fourth college stop for Hall of Famer Ray Lewis’ son. Lewis, a 5-foot-9 wide receiver, spent time at UCF and FAU before landing in Lexington.

Lewis came to Kentucky as a walk-on in 2020. An explosive, albeit short athlete in the slot, he played in six games in 2021 before suffering a mid-season knee injury. Lewis played in nine games in 2022, highlighted be a four-catch, 42-yard performance against Mississippi State where he scored his first career touchdown. He concluded his UK career eight receptions for 69 yards and one receiving score.

Lewis is one of the last transfer portal dominoes to follow this offseason. Only two former Kentucky football players that entered the portal have not yet found a home, and this blogger would not be surprised if either decided to call it quits on the gridiron. College football players cannot enter the transfer portal again until May, but athletes already in the portal can find a new home at any point in time.
