Another Look at Why John Calipari (and two other college guys) Won't Coach the Lakers
Friend of the site Aaron Torres finally had enough with the rumors of three college basketball coaches that are linked to the Lakers job. I know, an opening in the NBA and Coach Cal is linked to it. Shocking.
Torres says Calipari’s name was thrown around by LA media today, but really the national media has stopped linking him to every opening because he has a former player on the team. He goes as far to say the only way Cal would leave for the NBA – and it’s a stretch – is someone like LeBron calling him and begging that he needs him.
Torres goes and looks at Jay Wright and Kevin Ollie as well. The fact is these coaches are often taken care of better at their respective schools. Wright and Calipari can do whatever they want at Nova and Kentucky while Ollie is making his work at UConn. So be ready to hear one person say Calipari to the Lakers because it’s Los Angeles, but don’t buy it.
