When Anthony Brown committed to Kentucky, some compared the shifty wide receiver to Wan’Dale Robinson. “Really Wan’Dale? A bit ambitious, isn’t it?” It seemed overzealous at the time, but this fall Brown has looked like a game-changing SEC slot receiver.

Anthony Brown committed to Kentucky over the summer, choosing the Wildcats over Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Michigan and Penn State. A top 500 wide receiver, he’s a four-star prospect in half of the major recruiting services. Brown is ranked as the No. 60 wide receiver prospect in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

This fall Brown has put up some crazy numbers. Playing for former Wildcat Moe Douglass, Brown has gained 1,543 yards receiving yards and caught 20 touchdown passes to propel Springfield to a 13-1 record. That means he’s gaining over 110 yards and scoring at least one touchdown in every game this season. Last week he scored touchdowns from 30 and 48 yards to propel Springfield past Cincinnati Moeller 28-24, the home of Josh Kattus and Carrington Valentine, among others.

Anthony Brown posted a couple of eye-opening single-game performances this fall.

Anthony Brown can taste revenge with a win in his final high school football game. Springfield is playing Lakewood St. Edward in a rematch of last year’s Division I State Championship, Ohio’s largest classification. Brown’s Wildcats were runners-up in 2021, falling 23-13. Springfield will try to knock off the state’s top-ranked team tonight at 7:30 pm EST. The game in Canton can be streamed online or watched locally in Ohio on Spectrum 1.
