Since allowing NBA players to represent the United States Olympic team, only two players prior to Anthony Davis have played on the squad without ever playing in an NBA game: Christian Laettner in 1992 and Emeka Okafur in 2004. Although both players sat at the end of the bench, Laettner got to see the floor due to so many blowouts in '92 and averaged 4.8 ppg. Okafur did not score a single point in two games played in 2004. With the production that Anthony Davis has shown in two exhibition appearances, it's likely that he could contribute to this team like no other player with a lack of NBA experience ever has for Team USA, if he is given the opportunity to do so (ehem, Coach K). When you also consider that Davis has played only one year in college compared to Laettner's four years and Okafur's three years, simply his presence on the roster is unprecedented. The stats below speak for themselves, and include significant first half minutes against Great Britain. Davis is 5th on the team in scoring average and even seventh on the team in total points, despite only playing in 23 total minutes.
