One of the current players involved in trying to ensure that the rest of the season is not canceled is former Kentucky Wildcat and current Los Angeles Lakers big man, Anthony Davis. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Davis is one of several members who were designated by the president of the NBPA, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Paul. Reportedly joining Paul and Davis is a star-studded class that features LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, and Russell Westbrook. https://twitter.com/YahooSports/status/1260349577095516161 A private conference call between the players and the league was held on Monday with discussions surrounding the potential outcomes of resuming what is left of the 2019-20 season. According to Haynes, all parties left in agreement that they will "take the court with proper safety measures once the league is given the green light to commence." Davis and the rest of the player's voices are expected to have a heavy impact on what the league ultimately does. Shams Charania of The Athletic put out that his sources are saying both the NBA and NBPA want to find a way to finish out the 2019-20 season. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier on Tuesday that the NBPA is in the process of polling the players in order to gauge where they stand on what the league should do. For Davis, his Lakers squad was atop the Western Conference standings before the season was postponed back on March 11. They're currently sitting on a 49-14 record with 19 games remaining before the postseason; canceling the season isn't something Davis, LeBron, and the rest of the Lake Show would like to do. Lillard and Curry are the only members of this group whose teams were out of the playoff picture once the season was put on hold. This tweet from Woj late Tuesday night should give you an idea of how much both parties would like to continue the season. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1260378678149644289 There have been whispers that jumping right into the playoffs and skipping the remaining few weeks of regular-season games might be the most realistic route. In the same article by Chris Haynes, he also reported that players whose teams were outside of the playoff picture would be content with the top-8 teams from each conference springing straight into postseason action. There is legitimate concern over what the cancelation of the season - and, in turn, the league's CBA - might do to affect the future. Davis is going to play an important role in determining what the NBA eventually decides on. [Yahoo Sports]
