Today in unsurprising news: Anthony Davis is good at defense. The 2017 NBA All-Star MVP was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team today after his best year in the league yet. This season, Davis averaged career highs in points (28.0) and rebounds (11.8) to go along with 2.2 blocks per game. He joins former Cats Tayshaun Prince (2005-08) and Rajon Rondo (2009-12) as multiple-time defensive team members.

Davis started the season off with a bang, putting up 50 points and 15 rebounds in his first game and 45 points and 17 rebounds in his second. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Davis was the first player to score at least 90 points in the first two games of a season since Michael Jordan scored 91 to begin the 1986-87 season. He ended with 2,099 points, a Pelicans’ single-season franchise scoring record. Davis was also an unanimous MVP selection at the All-Star Game, setting a scoring record with 52 points in addition to 10 rebounds.

Also on the All-Defensive Second Team: Tony Allen, Danny Green, Andre Roberson and Giannis Antetokounmpo. First-team honorees included Draymond Green, Rudy Gobert, Kawhi Leonard, Chris Paul and Patrick Beverley. John Wall (Washington Wizards) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Charlotte Hornets) also received votes.

I think this calls for a block party, don’t you?
