Former Kentucky guard Archie Goodwin joined the roster of the Armored Athlete team in The Basketball Tournament this weekend. We all saw the Bluegrass Boys fall in the first round of TBT last weekend, as well as the DeMarcus Cousins’ coached Loyalty Is Love team advance to the Quarter Finals out of the Lexington region.

This weekend, up in Syracuse, Archie Goodwin’s team went 1-1 as the No. 2 seed before falling to the No. 3 seeded Team Brotherly Love, which is a Philly-based team mostly filled with former players from Drexel, Rider, and Temple.

Goodwin finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal in 23 minutes in Armored Athlete’s 96-69 win over Team Draddy, which is a Manhattan College alumni team. In the second game of the weekend, Armored Athlete fell to Team Brotherly Love by the score of 90-82. Goodwin had six points, two rebounds, a steal, and a block in nearly 28 minutes.

Armored Athlete was filled with some names you may remember from big-time college programs, including North Carolina’s JP Tokoto, Florida State’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Isaac Haas from Purdue, Terrico White and Murphy Holloway from Ole Miss, Texas Tech’s John Roberson, and Arnett Moultrie from Mississippi State.

After spending some time in the Chinese Basketball League before coming back over to the G-League to end the season this year, Goodwin is left weighing his options as he tries to make it as a professional basketball player. Now that he’s out of TBT, DeMarcus Cousins’ team is the lone former Cat in the running for the championship.
