Are you ready for some Bisons basketball?

by:Thomas Beisner12/09/08
The ABA is back in the Bluegrass baby and the Kentucky Bisons are ready to take the league by storm.  Fresh off of a 126-87 road victory over the Knoxville Thunderbolts (featuring Dane Bradshaw!), the Bisons (is that even proper English?) will be making their home debut Thursday in Owensboro against the Eastern Ky. Coalminers.  The squad features a roster of players who all hold Kentucky ties, with the most notable being Brandon Stockton of, according to the site, Kentucky University, and are coached by Russellville native and former Globetrotter Otis Key.  One of my college roommates was from Owensboro and had a huge man crush on a guy named Lamar who went to SIU.  If you're from the dirty 'boro as well, that might be your big draw.  But, regardless, small-time basketball leagues are another guilty pleasure of mine and I'm going to go on record without even having seen them play and declare myself a Bisonhead.  I suggest you do the same. In related news, the former owner was caught in Memphis today and will be extradited back to Kentucky.  That dude is REALLY fired up about the Liberty Bowl.
