As Tough as it Gets.....

But for the first time in a long time, I really have no interest in a UK basketball game. Today's loss to Tennessee was about as tough a loss as I can remember. When you are a UK football fan, you are used to victory being snatched away by improbable plays, calls or overall wackiness. But this was different. This was a game that I knew, I just KNEW Kentucky would win. Even as I told the fanbase that we should calm down on our predictions of victories over LSU, Georgia, South Carolina or Arkansas, I just KNEW that Kentucky was going to take out the Vols. This was the year.....great Senior class, final home game with all the UK fans ready to explode. It was meant to be....or so I thought. Instead what we ended up with was an ESPN Instant Classic, once again with the Football Cats on the losing end. There are a million plays one can point to in order to dissect the loss. There was the inability on two plays to get in from the two yard line in regulation....the inexplicable blocked kick on what was essentially a chip shot field goal....the touchdown that could have/should have been overturned. All of those are frustrating....but they dont tell the tale of the game. Tennessee had a number of passes that could have been intercepted to put the game away and had to feel like Kentucky had 9 lives throughout the contest. No this loss wasnt because of one particular play....it was because the Football Gods simply want to punish Kentucky fans. How else do you explain this? Kentucky is not only better than Tennessee on the field....we are better in life as well. Look at that orange they wear....orange such as that simply cant be the apparel of anything positive. They get all the breaks, we get none. They have players with arrest records that make Mike Tyson shake his head in disbelief.....all of Kentucky's players were former alter boys destined to be UN diplomats. Their coach is fat and sneaky....our coach is a nice grandpa who reads to his players before tucking them in at night. It just isnt fair and I for one cant understand it. Being a Kentucky football fan hurts....we all know that. But today just seemed to hurt a little bit more. The Senior class deserved this one....Rich Brooks deserved this one....and gosh darn it, people like me, who were 6 years old the last time Kentucky beat Tennessee....we deserved it too. Those of you that know me know how bad it is when even the news that Woo scoring 8 points and 7 rebounds in his NBDL debut cant even put a smile to my face. 4 1/2 hours of delayed misery. Stupid Tennessee.... In other news, Arkansas' win likely takes us out of the Peach Bowl and sends us to Nashville for the Music City again. We will find out soon enough.
