Kentucky just wrapped up its second big official visit weekend of the June recruiting period. Once again, Auburn is quickly trying to get one of those targets on campus.

A few days after the Tigers locked in an official visit with blue-chip wideout Karmello English, Bryan Harsin’s program was also able to schedule an official visit with the Naquil Betrand fresh off his official visit to Lexington.

The Philadelphia (Pa.) Northeast offensive tackle is the No. 831 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Betrand is currently committed to Colorado but will be taking his second official visit on Tuesday when the 6-foot-6, 320-pound prospect arrives on the Plains.

There will be some overlap during that time as English is set to begin his official visit with Auburn on Monday. All signs point to that recruitment being a two-horse race as the wideout will be announcing his final decision next month.

Naquil Betrand released his top 10 on June 8, and Kentucky made the list along with Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Syracuse, Texas A&M, and West Virginia. The Wildcats worked quickly to get the prospect on campus. Now Auburn is doing the same.

A battle on the recruiting trail between these new programs isn’t a new thing and could be something we see a few times later in this cycle.
