Barion Brown, one of Kentucky’s top signees in the 2022 recruiting class, is expected to be on campus in time for the start of summer workouts.

Before the talented wide receiver signed with UK there were some concerns around Brown’s eligibility status. Those were amplified when one Scoop Lemond recently shared a pessimistic outlook on Brown’s arrival. Even though it’s only April and players are still on campus for the Spring semester, a source close to the Kentucky football program tells KSR that Brown is in good standing and the team expects him to report to summer workouts in June.

A four-star prospect from Nashville, Brown was the No. 87 player in America, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The top 15 pass-catcher in the 2022 recruiting class was also awarded Mr. Football in the state of Tennessee for class 4A.

Brown Sprints by the Competition

Brown was not one of a dozen Kentucky football early enrollees on campus for spring practice. He still had state titles to defend in track and field. At a meet last night night he ran the 100-meter in 10.68 seconds and the 200-meter in 21.47. Last week he proved he was the fastest sprinter in Nashville.

Last spring he won the Tennessee state championship by posting a 10.49 100-meter dash, the third-fastest in the state since 1985. Brown’s wheels will come in handy for first-year Kentucky offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello. A big play waiting to happen, all he needs is a little space to show off that incredible top-end speed.
