Admittedly, it was a quiet week overall for our former ‘Cats playing in the NFL. A mixture of injuries and some players starting to see their playing time cut down has weighed down the ability for some Wildcats to make noise on Sundays, or every once in a while Monday or Thursday. Luckily enough, we still have former top-10 pick Josh Allen, who continues to shine in a breakout season.

Josh Allen keeps performing while the Jags do not

Josh Allen is falling deep into another lost season due to the inevitable incompetency from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even when they’re gifted someone who people were tabbing the greatest quarterback prospect to ever live. They also gained some pretty decent weapons and brought back James Robinson after his absurd rookie campaign. Still, they are 31st in the league in scoring, averaging just under 16 points per game. Allen and the rest of the defense would have to come up with absurd performances week in and week out to keep this team consistently competitive.

Allen has been locked in for a while now. A couple of weeks after the legendary Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen battle, our Josh put up one of his best defensive performances despite the defense’s struggles. In only 49 snaps, Allen recorded 10 tackles, one for loss and forced a fumble. If Dak Prescott didn’t have his ankle turn in to 180 degrees last season, Allen would be a prime candidate for comeback player of the year.

Josh Allen is clearly the best on defense

As if anyone in the BBN thought differently, it’s starting to become a ubiquitous thought around the country that Josh Allen is the best player that the Jags trot out there on defense. The Jags have lost a plethora of stars since their miraculous run to the AFC championship game that one time, with Myles Jack being the lone notable defender left. Jack has fallen off slightly the past few years, which has allowed Allen to step in and take the reins of the defense. And though people may have their individual quarrels with the company and how they assess their grades, PFF agrees too. Against the 49ers, Allen led the entire team with a rating of 83.2 on the day.

Other notable performances

  • Mike Edwards had two tackles, a pass defense and a pick on 71% of snaps
  • Jamin Davis had three tackles on 65% of snaps
