BBNFL: Josh Allen did WHAT to Josh Allen?

Another tough week for football fans here in Lexington who had any real aspirations for our Kentucky Wildcats. Fortunately enough, we were able to see Josh Allen put on a linguistic masterpiece on Sunday. Let’s dive into how Allen and some of our former ‘Cats performed in the NFL this past week.

Our Josh Allen is better than yours

More important than any game or ensuing playoff implication that started to formulate was the battle down in Jacksonville. No, it was not about the 1-6 Jaguars facing the Super Bowl contending Bills as egregious underdogs. Nor was it even about the Jaguars still desperately trying to claw their way back to any sense of respectability.

It was about one thing. It’s about two men, sharing the same name, and who would come out as the one and only Josh Allen. A battle years in the making, both men having had ample time to prepare for this date predetermined by destiny. There was some dark magic and potential voodoo shenanigans at play here that may help determine the fate of the universe that was dependent on the outcome of Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen.

There was an honest thought that we as a society were fully materialized into a computer simulation yesterday, after Josh Allen’s fumble recovery of Josh Allen. You sack someone with the same name? That’s a historical occurrence that has never happened before, but ok, I can believe that I guess. You then intercept someone with the same name? I simply refuse to acknowledge the absurdity of what is occurring. Once you then recover the fumble from the man with the same first and last name as you, there’s the potential the world might just collapse on itself that very second like it’s 2012.

I don’t know if we’ll ever see a string of events occur again as we did on Sunday. Regardless of the comedy associated with two grown men having two first names as their first and last names, it was still an awesome game from our Josh Allen. Allen had eight tackles on the day to go along with the sack, interception and fumble recovery. The former first-round pick has been back to playing at a Pro-Bowl level for a few weeks now and still looks to be a key piece to Jacksonville’s future. If they don’t trade him away first, that is.

Danny Trevathan showing out with limited time

Since coming back from a knee injury in Week 5, Danny Trevathan has been racking up stats in limited snaps for the Bears. Averaging less than 20 snaps a game, Trevathan had been totaling roughly around four tackles a game before Monday night’s contest. Against the Steelers, Trevathan racked up seven tackles on only 28 defensive snaps.

It’s going to be hard to get Travathan in for a majority of snaps when the Bears have Roquan Smith holding down the middle of the defense. If he keeps performing like this, however, there’s no reason why his play shouldn’t warrant more playing time as the season moves along.

Other notable performances

  • Randall Cobb (GB) had three catches for 50 yards.
  • Brandin Echols (NYJ) had six tackles on 100% of snaps.
  • Quinton Bohanna (DAL) had two tackles on 31% of snaps.
