Behind The Facemask: Tymere Dubose

For starters, his name is pronounced TY-mere du-Bose, not Ta-mere Dubose. The 6’5, 315-pound redshirt sophomore from Youngstown reminded me of that in today’s latest installment of Behind The Facemask.

After a chance meeting with Vince Marrow as a sophomore at Youngstown Christian High School, two years later he spurned Michigan State to sign with Kentucky. At the time, Dubose was only a basketball player as he didn’t begin to play football until his junior season.

When asked, he told me his “Over-300 pound UK Football-Basketball Team” includes:

Point Guard: Tymere Dubose
Shooting Guard:Nick Haynes
Center: Cole Mosier
Forward: Courtney Miggins
Power Forward: Kengera Daniel

That team would be a sight to see.

“If you play me that’s when I gotta get tough,” Dubose remarked when prompted to talk about himself.

He’s going to play; in 2016 he has to play. Much like Adrian Middleton, Regie Meant’s departure has shoved him into the defensive line rotation. Being from the same hometown as his head coach, I highly doubt that shove was gentle.

I remarked on National Signing Day 2014 that he was the most NFL skilled defensive lineman in the class due to the fact he possesses tremendous feet, long arms, and is highly athletic. He’s got to put it all together, and in a hurry.

Much is expected from Tymere Dubose.
