Is Benny Snell in for a massive role during the upcoming season in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense?
With the salary cap expected to be set around $180 million for the upcoming NFL season, former Kentucky running back Benny Snell Jr. could be in for a larger command of the snaps.
The Steelers are currently at $210 million in salary for the 2021 season, with big free agents still left to sign like current starting back James Conner, along with other key positions.
Some of their biggest cap hits include quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who has indicated that he is coming back for another season, possibly with a smaller cap hit.

Conner could walk in free agency if the team chooses to bring back tackle Alejandro Villanueva along with linebackers Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt. This would push Benny Snell into the No. 1 back role, splitting snaps with Jaylen Samuels.
Snel,l in the last game he started, averaged 4.6 yards per carry for 107 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals while appearing in 78 percent of the offensive snaps.
If given the starting role, the Steelers can see a glimpse of what made Benny Snell a legend for the Wildcats.
