Big Changes To Tomorrow's Visits

by:Dustin Rumbaugh01/01/10

So we started off the week thinking that the visitors would be Josh Selby and Angel Nunez. Scratch those two and put Amir Williams in their place.

JOSH SELBY — The big news is obviously that Josh Selby will not be making the trip but there isn’t any reason for UK fans to overreact. His mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, who is obviously very close with, had a scheduling conflict arise and wasn’t going to be able to make the trip with Josh. Josh decided that he would rather not make the trip without her and instead wait to use his official visit at a time where his mom would be able to make the trip with him. Definitely a decision we can all sympathize with so there’s no reason to think it has anything to do with his feelings for UK. It doesn’t have anything to do with that.

ANGEL NUNEZ — Angel Nunez was always a shaky visit and he made that no secret. Whenever he talked about the visit he would constantly say that those are the plans and that the visit will happen if everything works out. With ’11 kids, you have to remember that the visits are on their own dime and that plans change a lot.

AMIR WILLIAMS — The new visitor is a very big visitor. Amir Williams (pictured above) is a 2011 center, standing 6’9″ and ranked by Scout.com as the #36 overall prospect in his class and the #6 center. He attends Detroit Country Day school in Michigan and hits the court with one of my favorite 2010 players, Ray McCallum. The story on his game is that he is a lean big man with a great shot blocking ability on the defensive end. He has good hands on the offensive end, where he is still developing his game. Sounds a lot like Adreian Payne’s report huh? Williams is definitely a star in the making and should give UK fans reason to get very excited about Saturday’s visitors, even though Selby won’t be making the trip. He will fill a big need in 2011 as UK looks for a lengthy big man to block shots and shut down the opponents ability to get to the rim. So don’t lose the passion that you were planning to show off to Selby and Nunez, just transfer it over to Mr. Williams.
