When Jalen Rose had conversations with John Calipari last spring about joining the UK staff, Rose's relationship with Bill Simmons and their
Grantland podcasts kept him out of the coaching game and in the media.
"I’m not going to leave my current opportunity for that job,” Rose said, on a podcast with Simmons and Dan Jacoby.
Well, today,
ESPN and Bill Simmons parted ways, thus ending Rose's working relationship with Bill Simmons and that "current opportunity."
So maybe it's time Cal gives him another call?
Last fall, Simmons told Rose, “I would’ve never let you (take the UK job). I would’ve thrown my body in front of it. I would’ve cried.”
Simmons' body is no longer there to intervene.
