BJ Boston hints at high-profile silent commitment for the Kentucky frontcourt

by:Jack Pilgrim10/11/19
Does Kentucky have an elite frontcourt prospect already committed behind the scenes in the class of 2020? If you ask 2020 five-star guard and UK commit BJ Boston, the Wildcats have "one coming in." In an interview with Mary Jo Perino of Hey Kentucky, Boston said that while he can't release the name quite yet, he's confident they have one in particular locked up. "Listen, we love a good show, but we still need a true big man for this class. Are you still on the recruiting trail?" Perino asked. "We got one coming in, actually," Boston responded. "We've got one coming in. I can't tell right now. But we'll be very good, I feel like we're going to have the No. 1 recruiting class." A big capable of solidifying the No. 1 recruiting class, eh? Interesting. According to the 6-foot-7 guard commit, who is ranked as high as No. 9 (ESPN) in the recruiting rankings, he's not just talented on the court. He also prides himself in being an exceptional recruiter off the floor. In fact, Boston told Perino that he was in contact with Clarke several weeks before he made his college announcement back in September and knew the top-five prospect would end up committing to Kentucky. "Yeah, Terrence Clarke, that's my guy," he said. "He probably called me every week before he committed, talking about "I'm coming. I'm coming." I said, "Let's do it." I feel like we share the same goals, we know where we want to end up. We're just ready." From there, Kentucky's first commitment in the class of 2020 has spent time building relationships with UK's next two pledges: Cam'Ron Fletcher and Lance Ware. "Yeah, Cam'Ron (Fletcher) and Lance (Ware), those are my guys too," Boston said. "We actually made a group chat with all of us. They're ready to go, I'm ready to go." But what about himself? What made the Norcross, GA native and current Sierra Canyon HS star ultimately decide on the Wildcats? "I chose Kentucky because I really liked how the coaching staff recruited me," he said. "They always told me the real things. I really like what they're doing with their players and how they're getting them ready for the league. ... I feel that they do a very good job working hard every day. They know how to prepare their kids for the league early." And what does Boston plan on bringing to the table in Lexington? "I feel like I bring a different variety of things," the five-star guard said. "I'm very versatile, can play the one through the three. I can score at all three levels, I'm a good shooter, I can defend, all of it." To watch the entire interview with Hey Kentucky, take a look below:
Any guesses on who the silent commitment could be? [mobile_ad]
