The former Kentucky Wildcat secured the bag by putting pen to paper on a two-year guaranteed rookie deal, according to Shams Charania. The keyword in that sentence is guaranteed. Not all second round draft picks earn guaranteed contracts. The Clippers bought two years with Boston and have an option to pick up a third season. The Clippers have been high on Boston since his time as a prospect at nearby Sierra Canyon High School. They bought the 51st overall pick from the Pelicans to get a crack at the former top five high school recruit. Boston did not immediately live up to the hype at the University of Kentucky. In his only season in Lexington he averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 40.5% from the field. His stock slid during a pandemic-plagued season, but the Clippers believe there's still plenty of untapped potential in the former prodigy. Boston will make his Los Angeles Clippers debut tonight in the NBA Summer League. He'll play alongside former Louisville Trinity star, Jay Scrubb, at 9 pm ET on ESPNU against the defending world champion Milwaukee Bucks.
