Bleacher Report's Early Wooden Watch has Two Kentucky Guys

Bleacher Report came out with their way (emphasis on way) too early Wooden Award Watch for next season. Brian Pederson gave us 20 names plus honorable mentions as who he thinks will win the National Player of the Year this coming season. Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox made the list at No. 15 and No. 13 respectively.

Pederson predicts Monk will inherit the leading scorer role from Jamal Murray as well as the starting shooting guard spot, giving him 60-1 odds to win. For Fox, he gets a higher nod for not having anyone to compete for minutes with and B/R expects him to have nice assists numbers with the talent Kentucky will have down low.

So, who is number 1? Duke’s Grayson Allen, which I have to say makes sense only if you look at stats and nothing else. Personally I thought Allen coming back was dumb for him (weaker draft, high stock) and somewhat hurts Duke’s flow as a team. Allen will have to learn to give some way to Frank Jackson, Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum whereas last year it was just him and Brandon Ingram. I would bet heavily against Allen winning the Wooden a year from now.
